International Cultures Committee: Fun Ways to Engage

In celebration of our students’ varied backgrounds, the strength and depth that this diversity brings to our Holmes community, and the innovation, engagement and discoveries that it can inspire, the International Cultures Committee has found ways for us to engage “globally” even when the pandemic keeps us apart. Here’s what we can look forward to:

  • Holmes Cultural Passport Program — launching this month with a spotlight on France — through which students can virtually travel to explore, learn and enjoy many facets of a different culture and country each month.
  • A family-friendly Virtual Cooking Club: Starting January 29 we will make madeleines and quiche with Chef Marine Devillers, join Holmes parents as they share their favorite recipes, each from a different country, on the fourth Friday of every month from 5pm-6pm (this event is for families). If you are interested in attending or hosting, please contact Sary at sary.akelsberg@gmail.com.
  • Attention Adults! Join the International Book Club that will meet on Zoom the first Wednesday of each month from 7pm-8pm. Each book will either be set in, or written by someone from, another country.  The first book is The Alice Network, for the February 3 book club. To sign up, please contact Aparna at aparnasahgal@gmail.com.
  • A Kids Art Club: Check the H2H each month to have your child(ren) try out a fun multicultural art project!
